Cool temperature reflects in today’s polling as mere 36.73% turnout registered till 5.00 pm

Not only the temperature, even the polling percentage too displays a cool trend throughout the day today as poor turnout was seen since morning that resulted into 36.73 percent voting by 5.00 pm as against the overall turnout of 45.29 percent during last GHMC elections wherein only 33,62,688 out of 74,24,096 voters cast their votes.

Since morning the voters show impassive mood towards the election process and largely refrained from approaching polling booths till 1.00 pm following which the trend gradually shows improvement but still fails to cross 40% march by 5.00 pm. As per the trend, only 36.73 percent of polling has been registered till 5.00 pm.

Considered as strategically important area on the borders of Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts, the Rajendranagar circle today displayed an inversion of polling trends throughout the day wherein wards having large number of voters performed less while wards with fever number of voters fared a bit better than the other hefty wards.

Out of five wards of Rajendranagar circle-11, only Attapur fared well in receiving good voters’ turnout with 55.38 percent polling today till 5.00 pm while the remaining wards such as Sulemannagar, Shastripuram, Mailardevpally and Rajendranagar manage to attract only 39.20%, 38.60%, 37.89% and 21.11% percent of voting respectively.

According to the official, the state election commission has spent a whopping Rs.54.6 crore on polling arrangements while another 13.65 will be incurred on the day of counting. All in all the total expenditure will hover around Rs.100 crore that include awareness programs for voters.

However, reports of missing voter names in electoral rolls starts pouring in soon after the polling process begins in the morning. People in several areas under Rajendranagar were seen taking umbrage over the polling officials and staff for that they are not been allowed to vote despite having electoral photo identity cards and other credentials to prove themselves as a resident of Hyderabad.
