Amaravati: As an element of its ‘Operation Muskaan’, Andhra Pradesh Police has rescued 12,621 kids living rough in the city or forced by conditions to work to squeeze out a living over the state, reigniting their expectations of a better life in the future.
These fortunate kids include orphans, child laborers, and those simply living in the city with no guardians. Among the rescued children, 10,492 are boys and 2,129 girls.
Police authorities scoured bus stations, railroad stations, shops, businesses, major road intersections, and other public spots to identify and rescue such kids who are defenseless against crime and criminals.

The initiative was taken up under the guidance of Director General of Police Gautam Sawang.
In the Prakasam area alone, police identified 322 such boys and 125 girls, in coordination with Labor Department, governmental and non-governmental bodies, and others.
In the East Godavari area, police identified 177 helpless kids – 153 boys and 24 girls – on Monday at places like Kakinada, Ramachandrapuram, Peddapuram, Amalapuram, Rampachodvaram, and Chinturu.
Prakasam District Superintendent of Police Siddharth Kaushal stated, “Children are the future wealth of our country. They should not be forced to work by any organization or individual; everyone should show humanity towards them.”

He cautioned that cases would be filed against those using kids as laborers.
Kaushal likewise called upon parents of kids to support their schooling and not send them out to work for a living.
The police have already led six stages of Operation Muskaan, saving lost and runaway kids. Prior, the operation was directed from July 14 to 20.
The operation is now likewise pointed toward shielding road kids from contracting COVID-19.
Kids having guardians and parents will be given over to them while the orphans will be sent to child care homes and rehabilitation centers.

‘Operation Muskaan’ was first launched back in July when officials rescued 101 boys, 18 girls in Krishna district.
