13 Out of 15 Bihar Ministers Are Crorepatis, BJP tops: Report

Out of the 15-member recently sworn-in Bihar cabinet, a total of 13 ministers are crorepatis, and the average assents of these leaders 3.93 crores, Bihar Election Watch and Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) said.

Of those 14 ministers, whose affidavits were examined, 13 are crorepatis and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with its 6 MLAs is on top position followed by 5 from JD-U and 1 each of HAM and VIP, they stated.

It was reported that out of the 14 ministers, two are women.

The elections watchdogs said the finding was based on an examination of self sworn affidavits of 14 Ministers, submitted prior to the October-November Assembly decisions.

The report includes that the average assets of 14 ministers analyzed is Rs 3.93 crores.

The minister with the most announced complete assets is Mewa Lal Choudhary from the Tarapur constituency with assets worth Rs 12.31 crores while the minister with the lowest announced complete assets is Ashok Chaudhary former member from Bihar Legislative Council with assets worth Rs 72.89 lakhs.

A complete number of 8 ministers have announced liabilities out of which Mukesh Sahani of Simri Bakhtiarpur constituency is the minister with the most liabilities with Rs 1.54 crores of liabilities.

Four ministers have announced their educational qualifications to be in the range of 8th and 12th standard while 10 ministers have announced having an education qualification of graduate or above.

A total of six ministers have announced their age to be between 41-50 years while eight ministers have announced their age to be between 51-75 years.

The NDA procured about 125 of the 243 seats in Assembly elections, defeating its key opponent Grand Alliance or Mahagathbandhan drove by Tejashwi Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal, Congress, CPI-MLL, CPI-M, and CPI.

A 15-member council of ministers, led by the chief minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar, was sworn in by governor Phagu Chauhan on Monday.
