22 people killed in Yemen airport blast

At least 22 people were killed and More than 50 people have been injured in an attack at the Aden airport of southern Yemen an official said.

There was a blast soon after a plane carrying the war-torn country’s and newly formed government arrived from Saudi Arabia.

As smoked billowed out from the Aden city airport terminal from a blast, with detritus across the area and people rushing a second blast took place.

Video shot by AFP shows missiles like ordnance striking the airport apron — that moments before had been packed with crowds — and exploding into a ball of intense flames.

Relief workers were among the casualties. The prime minister said he and his cabinet were “fine”.
Yemeni Information Minister Moammar Al-Eryani accused Houthi rebels of a “cowardly terrorist act“.

The MSF (Doctors Without Borders) said they are preparing a “mass casualty medical response plan”.

The cause for the blast was not immediately clear, however, gunfire was heard soon after.
