300th Dhruv Chopper Rolled out by HAL in Bangalore

An official said on Tuesday that, state-run (HAL) Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd has rolled out the 300th Dhruv multi-utility (ALH) advanced light Chopper from its hanger into the city’s eastern suburb.

R Madhavan The Chairman of HAL told on the occasion “The evolution from ALH Mark-I to Mark-IV has been phenomenal and is a boost to the indigenous design and development of helicopters,”

YK Sharma The south zone Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Aeronautical Quality Assurance handed over the ALH’s roll out the certificate to the company’s helicopter complex chief executive GVS Bhaskar.

Bhaskar told in a statement “The 300th ALH is a testimony to the capability the defense behemoth has built over the years due to the efforts of its employees and customer support,”

Dhruv has proven to be a multi-purpose helicopter for any mission, any time, any place. With 2,80,000 flying hours.


The Indian Air Force, Indian Army, Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard is flying the military variant of Dhruv, whereas its civil variant has been in use by private customers and several states for multiple operations over the last 18 years,

73 advanced light helicopters are to be produced by the aerospace major, including 41 for the Army and 16 each for the Coast Guard and Navy.

“Of the 73 Dhruvs, 38 have been produced so far while the remaining 25 will be rolled out by 2022” was added to the statement

ALH is a 5-tonne chopper which is indigenously developed and designed, the variants of ALH are used for transport, utility, reconnaissance and medical evacuation by the defence service. While the civil variants of ALH are used for policing, offshore operations, air-ambulance and other roles.

The ‘Ground Run’ of the first Limited Series Production (LSP) of Light Combat Helicopter- Limited Series Production (LCH-LSP) was carried outon this occasion.
