37 polling stations for MLC polls on Dec 10: Election Commission

Election Commission today directed the officials concerned to elaborate arrangements for MLC polls under local bodies’ quota in Telangana.

The polls are scheduled to be held in December in five previous districts in the state on Dec 10. With EC directions the officials set up 37 polling stations and 5326 voters will participate in the polling process. The poll results will be announced on December 14 as per the schedule issued by the EC.

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Shashank Goel today held a video conference with the collectors SPs and other officials on the polls to be held on December 10. From Budha Bhavan here, the CEO instructed the officials to make foolproof arrangements for the polls.  The CEO instructed for complete measures to avoid any sort of incidents in the polls.

He directed the collectors, SPs, and other officials to ensure that corona protocols are followed during the polls. There is no chance of using cell phones and cameras at the polling stations, he said. The polls are held in a smooth and fair manner. The EC has banned the use of cell phones, cameras, and electronic equipment by the voters in the process. The EC directed the district officials to deploy adequate security and police personnel for the better conduct of the elections. The EC said that there are 37 polling stations and 5326 voters who will exercise their voting franchise in the polls.

The EC issued a notification for the polls in the purview of the previous five districts and the results will be announced on Dec 14 after counting the votes polled. The CEO stated that either webcasting or videography will be conducted during the polls in all the polling stations. He expressed hope that with effective coordination of the officials the polling will be smooth. The results are to be announced after counting of the votes polled on December 14, he added.
