480 drunken drivers jailed, licences cancelled

Hyderabad: City Traffic Police is continuing its drive against drunken drivers to ensure road safety. In the month of July, they caught 2,815 drivers who were driving the vehicles in drunken condition. Charge-sheets were filed against them and were produced in the III and IV Metropolitan Magistrate Courts, Nampally.

Accordingly, the III and IV Metropolitan Magistrate Courts awarded imprisonment to the 480 accused and cancelled Driving licenses of 62 people. The courts also imposed fines of Rs 61,35,400 on traffic violators. All the violators sentenced to imprisonment were sent to Chanchalguda Jail.

The violators, who committed the offence were also counselled at TTI, Goshamahal and Begumpet. The drive against the drunken driving and other violations will continue for the safety of the commuters on road. (NSS)
