9,123 schools to be developed under 1st phase of Mana Ooru Mana Badi

Across Telangana, 9,123 schools have been selected by lottery as part of the Mana Ooru Mana Badi scheme to develop schools. There are 5,399 primary schools, 1,009 upper primary schools, and 2,715 high schools.

In three years, the Mana Ooru-Mana Badi scheme will provide basic and modern facilities to government schools at a cost of Rs 7,289.54 crores.

The pilot project launched by chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on March 8, 2022, has so far benefited four schools. 230 lakh students studying in 26,065 government and local body schools in the state will benefit from this program.

At a cost of Rs 3.57 crores, the scheme has benefited ZPHS, Jillelaguda, Balapur mandal of Rangareddy district, ZPHS, Shivarampalli, Rajendranagar mandal of Rangareddy district, Mahabubia Model High School, Hyderabad, and Alia Model School, Gun Foundry, Hyderabad.

School facilities are modern, wall paintings are attractive, and students are encouraged to be creative.

It involves providing toilet facilities with water supply, electricity, drinking water supply, adequate furniture for students, teachers, and staff, protective walls, kitchen sheds, new classrooms in place of dilapidated rooms, and dining facilities (Halls) in high schools, and promoting digital learning.

The scheme was launched in the Wanaparthy district and will be completed in three phases over a period of three years as a flagship program of the state government.

School management committees have initiated work in 9,123 schools, covering 13 lakh students in the current academic year. A total of Rs 3,497.62 crores will be spent on this.

District Collectors will be responsible for sanctioning the works in the selected school.

The constituency development funds of MLAs and MLCs will be allocated 40 percent to this scheme, and some of the funds will be allocated to the Panchayat Raj, SC, and ST sub-plans.
