AAP To Contest Uttar Pradesh Polls In 2022: Kejriwal

New Delhi: Subsequent to shaping the government in the national capital three times and arising as the main opposition party in Punjab, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday declared it will contest the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls in 2022.

Arvind Kejriwal, AAP’s national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister, made the declaration here in a digital press briefing.

Kejriwal said that each resident of Uttar Pradesh requires an honest government in the state, saying that it can just be given by AAP, which is why AAP will contest the 2022 Assembly elections in the state.

He said that the public of Uttar Pradesh put their trust and faith in each party and gave them a chance, yet these parties “stabbed” the people in their backs.

Kejriwal said: “Today, there is just one thing lacking in the politics of UP, which is intent and honesty. This is what AAP has. It is with this honesty that AAP has transformed Delhi.”

He included: “We proved that the government’s lack isn’t money, but the intent”

The Chief Minister said AAP made a party out of a people’s movement, it shaped the government in Delhi thrice and arose as the main opposition party in Punjab.

Kejriwal announced: “Now, AAP will contest in the coming Assembly Election in Uttar Pradesh in 2022.”

Kejriwal stated that each party formed the government in Uttar Pradesh, however, they did nothing other than filling their own houses.

Mentioning that public of Delhi had provided AAP only one chance and they have loved AAP such a great amount throughout the years that they have forgotten all other remaining parties, Kejriwal said he is certain that if the public of UP gives them one chance, they will forget the other remaining parties that exist.

The AAP has been looking to consistently broaden its political base. In a huge boost, the party took its first electoral win in Goa on Monday as Hanzel Fernandes won Zilla Panchayat elections in South Goa

In the previous week, the party said it will contest all seats in elections to local bodies in Gujarat, due starting of next year.

Nonetheless, contesting a state election in Uttar Pradesh may end up being challenging as the young party attempts to gain ground.
