Against KCR Wish of IAS, I Took Politics, Dalit Bandhu Will Empower SCs : KTR

IT and Municipal Minister KT Rama Rao today said that the Dalit community has been lagging behind for about seven decades and the TRS Government Come up with Dalit Bandhu for the emancipation of the SCs.

KT Rama Rao attended a program of students at Githam University in Sanga Reddy district here and revealed his mind about his political entry against the interest of his father KCR. My father asked me to become an IAS and I tried to pursue it and ended up opting for politics, he said.

The Minister informed the pupils who posed some questions on Dalit Bandhu, pensions, and other policies of the government.

My father KCR actually asked him to pursue IAS to serve the people and I had chosen politics after a wall writing in JNU campus in Delhi in 2004. When everything gets decided by politics, you better decide what your future politics are, the wall writing intrigued me.

Instead of doing IAS and becoming an official was not apt, I felt. So I took to politics without the knowledge of my father who then resigned as the union minister in protest against the delay in according statehood in 2006. I began working for the TRS and finally the party achieved statehood to rule the state.

He went on explaining how the TRS movement began for statehood, getting back to India to head an MNC in Mumbai and finally plunged into politics after attempting to prepare for UPSC to become an IAS. My father asked me to become an IAS official and I had to prefer politics to ensure that the schemes reach out to the unreached.

Similarly, Rythu Bandhu was rolled out and Dalit Bandhu to emancipate the SCs who were suppressed by the successive governments he said. As part of the government, we began Mission Bhagiratha able to give potable water to villagers though some states opposed it. Rythu Bandhu and other schemes were opposed and a radical decision like planting 2.30 crores of saplings to push greenery by the chief minister surprised many and it was felt impossible. Later on we achieved it and gave pensions to the deserving people. We aim to empower the SCs through Dalit Bandhu and the chief minister is determined to implement despite politics and opposition parties crying foul, he clarified.

The Minister claimed that Telangana state has come up with several welfare schemes for the poor and deprived sections.
