Andhra Announces Rs 5L Ex-Gratia for Heavy Rain Victims’ Family

Amaravati: Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday directed the concerned authorities to give an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh to the family of the individuals who passed away in the recent downpour related incidents.

Upwards of 19 individuals died in the recent downpour related incidents, out of which 14 families have just gotten the ex-gratia, even as Reddy directed the Andhra district collectors to clear the balance.


The Chief Minister held a video meeting with the district collectors and joint collectors on Tuesday and advised them to be compassionate towards the individuals who endured a ton because of the heavy rainfall.

He advised them to behave in a humane manner, giving financial assistance and essential food supplies, including 25 kg rice, 1 kg each oil, red gram, potatoes, and onions.

Reddy guided the authorities to distribute Rs 500 to each individual departing from a relief camp.

Then, he guided the joint collectors to submit crop damage enumeration reports by October 31.

As indicated by the CM, the state government is giving input subsidy in the same season while Kharif subsidy will be given alongside the second spell of YSR Rythu Bharosa.

A complete subsidy of Rs 145 crore will be given on October 27 for the months of June, July, August, and September, including the agriculture crops.

Reddy additionally directed the district collectors to visit villages and ward secretariats two times per week alongside the joint collectors and other district officials.

Concerning the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, Reddy guided authorities to keep an objective of using Rs 10 crore material components in seven days in each Assembly constituency.

He instructed them to take up the development work of village and ward secretariats, RBKs, YSR health facilities, milk cooling units, and Anganwadi centers, upon whose fulfillment, Reddy guaranteed an extra Rs 5 crore worth of works.

The CM likewise directed the authorities to make awareness in farmers about electricity meters for farm connections intended to improve the supply of power.

He stated, “The farmers will not be burdened with the introduction of direct benefit transfer (DBT) of free power subsidy, but will bring in more transparency and accountability into the system.

He included, “In order to provide free power to the farmers on a long term basis, the state government is setting up a 10,000 MW solar plant at low cost and high sustainability.”
