Another woman SHO joins the Hyderabad City Police

Another woman will be given the responsibility of police station in the city with P Padma taking over as the Station House Officer of the Sultan Bazaar station.

After K Madhulatha’s appointment as SHO at Lalaguda in March, she is the second woman to serve as an SHO in the city.

Hyderabad CP CV Anand appointed Begumpet WPS inspector P Padma as inspector of Sultan Bazar PS on Tuesday. Inspector Madhulatha became the first woman SHO of a law and order police department in Lalaguda in March 2022.

In the presence of home minister Mahmood Ali and police commissioner CV Anand, Inspector K Madhulatha took charge as the SHO of Lalaguda police station in the north zone of Hyderabad commissionerate.

Previous Sultan Bazaar SHO suspended

Earlier, Anand suspended Sultan Bazar Inspector K Bhikshapathi, who was previously the SHO of Sultan Bazaar, for allegedly being in connivance with gambling organisers.

Since officials from the Sultan Bazaar police station were found guilty of involvement in several cases involving gambling dens, the Officer in Charge of the Station House had been suspended.

Police personnel also engaged in law violations in civil disputes. CV Anand, the city police commissioner, issued a suspension order for Station House Officer Bhikshapathi on Thursday for ‘dereliction of duty’.

The Task Force discovered the connivance of the Sultan Bazaar police in several gambling den cases, as well as abuse of the law in civil disputes which led to the suspension of SHO Bhikshapathi, the commissioner said.

Recent raids, which were carried out by the Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force, have led to the arrests of a few individuals involved with the ‘Three Card’ games. Moreover, under the Sultan Bazaar police station limits, special teams have also cracked down on betting rackets associated with Cricket.
