Anticipating more rains, the senior officials ramp-up visits to Osman Nagar

Following the prediction of more rains in the City, the Commissioner and Director Municipal Administration Dr.N.Satyanarayana IAS and Regional Director Municipal Administration Srinivas Reddy today made a surprise visit to Burhankhan Lake in Jalpally municipality and scale the situation in length.

Accompanied by Commissioner Jalpally Municipality G.P.Kumar, Commissioner Badangpet Municipality Krishna Mohan Reddy besides officials from revenue, Police and Irrigation departments, the Commissioner and Director has inspected the entire lake stretch and the pain areas that hit by the consistent rains and subsequent flood.

During the two hours long visit, the Commissioner and Director Municipal Administration Satyanarayana pored over the arrangements made by Jalpally Municipality to tackle any emergency situation in the wake of more rains. He also enquired about present water level in the lake and the measures to curtail the flood water issue at Osman Nagar area in Ward No.7 where hundreds of houses remain underwater.

The senior official descended on the Burhankhan Lake area early in the morning and inspected the bund where bund strengthening measures were put in place by the Jalpally municipality to inhibit the flood water that swarming into nearby colonies.

The senior official also discussed the reopening of historic Firangi Nala – a main nerve that connects the course of lakes and passes the flood water from one water body to another. This several kilometers long Firangi Nala abysmally closed at several locations to pave way for encroachments over water bodies.

The officials also discussed the Trench Line project around the lake with an estimated project cost of Rs.25 crore to divert sewerage and stormwater of surrounding areas. According to officials, the trench line would move all the way from Osman Nagar to Gurrum Cheruvu Balapur encompassing the areas around Burhankhan Lake.

The Commissioner and Director Municipal Administration Dr.N.Satyanarayana, IAS instructed the Jalpally and Badangpet authorities to keep on monitoring the situation and take appropriate preemptive measures to tactically handle any unsavory situation as there were predictions of more rains in the days to come.

In addition to this, the Commissioner and Director also pored over the plantation drive and sanitary arrangements being put in place by the municipality.

It is said that the Collector Rangareddy District Amoy Kumar is personally supervising the situation in Jalpally area especially the situation in the Osman Nagar area at Burhandkhan Lake where hundreds of houses were already submerged while the week long torrential rains have further aggravated the situation.
