  • Apple doubles its smartphone market share in India.
  • Iphone 11, Iphone SE and Iphone XR to be the driving force in the increase in sales.

The company has reported that its sales records have boomed in the year 2020 as its premier models have driven the sales of previous-generation products like the iPhone 11, iPhone SE (2020), and iPhone XR in India. For this financial year, the US-based company Apple has logged a huge 93 percent growth in 2020 as quoted in a new International Data Corporation (IDC) report on Monday.

Following this escalating sales report, the Apple corporation has, for the very first time, doubled its Indian smartphone market shares in the festive quarter of the financial year of 2020. International Data Corporation has even commented that the new iPhone 12 series is also adding up the sales record as it had a strong pickup in the festive quarter which is basically the period of October to December. The IDC quoted that Apple corporation has had a very good FY 2020. In the second half of the year, the pent-up demands combined with huge aggressive pricing, especially by the local retailers have boosted and eventually driven its growth in the Indian Smartphone Market. The statistics were conveyed by Navkendar Singh who currently works as the Research Director of Client Devices & IPDS at IDC India.

Apple CEO Tim Cook who has had a bullish attitude towards India had last month acknowledged and expressed eccentricity that the online stores have received a tremendous record-breaking response from the Indian market. He added that Apple has since then doubled its Indian smartphone market share to about 4 percent (in the December quarter) and that the company is ready to launch its retail stores in the Indian Subcontinent in the near future.

Quoting the late arrival in October of the iPhone 12 series, he said that this has not affected the sales and actually contributed significantly towards the rise of Apple corporation in fourth quarter of 2020 in the country. According to the report released by IDC’s Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker, the Indian smartphone market has finished FY 2020 at a good note as it sold 150 million units, a sour note 1.7 percent YoY decline, after several years of growth.
