Arvind Kejriwal Directs Government Run Hospitals To Prioritize Only Emergency Surgeries Amidst Rising Covid 19 Cases

Amidst the rising surge of Covid 19 cases in the national capital Delhi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal made an announcement on Tuesday. He said that only emergency surgeries will be given priority in government-run hospitals across Delhi.

Delhi Chief Minister To Turn Around Government Run Schools To Covid Centres

As per the latest reports, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has directed the government run hospitals to only perform emergency surgeries. All the planned surgeries must not be performed until further notice.

While addressing the press conference, Kejriwal said that planned surgeries are higher in number than the emergency surgeries. Following this, the hospital authorities have been directed to not admit the non-Covid patients unless there is an emergency.

In the announcement, he also said that the government is also planning to turn some of the government schools into Covid 19 centres.

Delhi CM Favours CBSE Exams To Be Cancelled

Talking about the Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE), Kejriwal said that the examinations should be cancelled. He said that there are around six lakh students and approximately one lakh students are expected to come to the exam centres. He said this further increases the risks of infection amidst the already rising cases across the country.

Kejriwal said that the exam centres could become a major hub-spots for the Covid 19. He then requested the Central government to cancel the CBSE exams.

Delhi CM also gave suggestions and said that alternate methods should be explored to conduct the examinations. He further said that the CBSE may even choose to promote the students based on internal marks.

On Sunday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took to Twitter to extend support towards cancelling the CBSE exams or to look for an alternative. He said that with the second wave of Covid 19 across the country, the authorities should reconsider conducting the CBSE exams.

“All stakeholders must be consulted before making sweeping decisions,” he tweeted.
