Asaduddin Owaisi criticizes Nitish Kumar govt for releasing murder convict Anand Mohan

Hitting out at the Nitish Kumar government for releasing former MP Anand Mohan Singh who was convicted for his involvement in the murder of IAS officer G Krishnaiah in Bihar, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Thursday demanded that the State government take back its decision.

In his question, he asked whether Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who is visiting other states in the country claiming to be the Prime Ministerial candidate, would mention that his government had released a man convicted of murdering a Dalit officer. Krishnaiah was from Telangana.

After serving 15 years behind bars, gangster-turned-politician Anand Mohan Singh was released from Saharsa jail in Bihar today.

The release of Singh by the Bihar government was described by Owasi as the murder of Krishnaiah for a second time.

While speaking to mediapersons here, Owaisi expressed regret that the IAS Officers’ Association in Bihar is silent on the issue.

He asked why a prison rule was amended to allow one person to be released from prison.

Nitish Kumar, who once claimed that he wouldn’t compromise on corruption and criminal justice, should reconsider his decision, said AIMIM’s president.

As a result of the government’s move, Owaisi said, a wrong message is being sent to the weaker sections, especially Dalits, and to public servants. “We demand that the Bihar government withdraw its decision,” he said.

He said that the government’s decision shows how political parties release such people from prison for their own political gain, whether it is the BJP government in Gujarat or Nitish Kumar’s government in Bihar.

Objecting to Nitish Kumar and RJD talking about social justice, he said Krishnaiah’s wife stands alone seeking justice for her husband’s murder today.

In response to the question of why no major political party has spoken out against the move, he blamed upper caste MPs in the BJP for not speaking up. “What was done in the case of Bilkis Bano, you have done the same thing here by letting off the killers of Krishnaiah,” he said.
