Audio Clip of Official Saying he ‘Wept When Vikas Dubey Was Killed’ Goes Viral

Kanpur: Even as the government of Yogi Adityanath begins action against the police personnel discovered to have been hand-in-glove with slain gangster Vikas Dubey, yet another shocking evidence of Dubey’s nexus with a village Panchayat official has surfaced.

On Thursday evening, the state government suspended Anant Dev Tiwari, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), for his alleged nexus with the gangster while Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dinesh P. was served a show-cause notice.

The recording of the official, who is said to be a good friend of slain gangster Vikas Dubey, has gone viral on the internet.

In the audio clip, the official can be heard speaking to the caller that he wept bitterly after the gangster was killed in an encounter on the 10th of July.

The authority proceeds to state that he, as well, could land in prison if his closeness with the hoodlum is uncovered.

In the opening of the audio clip, the official says that he attempted to convince Vikas Dubey not to take any extreme steps in life which could place him in a difficult situation.

The official uncovered that Vikas Dubey used to hold ‘langar’ (community feast) at his Bikru residence daily was “not only police officers, but even tehsildar, lekhpal and BDO would join the langar and indulge in revelry”.

Vikas Dubey was apprehended in 2017, the Uttar Pradesh government charged him under the Gangsters Act and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act and charge-sheeted him in 2019. He opposed this at the high court and secured an order of no coercive activity against him.

He was arrested again on 9 July 2020 close to the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. He was reported to have yelled his name while being apprehended, fearing being killed in a similar way as his accomplices. An appeal filed in the Supreme Court soon thereafter had requested security for him and a CBI inquiry concerning a series of killings.

It could be recollected that eight police officers were killed in the Bikru village on July 3 by Vikas Dubey and his men and gangster Vikas Dubey was killed in the early hours of July 10 when he allegedly attempted to escape the custody of STF, following an accident involving the vehicle in which he was being brought to Kanpur from Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh.
