Hyderabad: An auto-rickshaw driver, who is accused in a murder case, was hacked to death by unidentified persons near Punjagutta today morning. Police said, the victim identified as Mir Riyasat Ali, residing in Punjagutta, was an accused in the murder of another auto driver Ahmed three months ago, allegedly due to an extramarital relationship.
The Punjagutta police arrested Riyasat Ali in the case and remanded him. Recently, Riyasat Ali was released on bail. This morning some persons who are said to be associates of Ahmed, chased Riyasat Ali when he went out to have tea at Punjagutta, attacked him with swords and killed him. They later absconded from the scene.
On receipt of information, the Punjagutta ACP Thirupathanna, DI Nagayya, SI Nagaraju reached the spot and shifted the body to Gandhi Hospital for post mortem. A case under Section 302 of IPC was registered and the police started an investigation to arrest the culprits.
