Banks, DOT Warn Customers against Frauds

Hyderabad: Banks are cautioning their customers against disclosure of any information to anyone, in view of the increase in cybercrime now a day. “Please do not disclose your ATM card number/ATM PIN/CVV/OTP/Online user  ID and password/ any other sensitive information to anyone”, the banks are advising the customers.

The department of Telecommunications is also cautioning phone users.  “While receiving an international call, if an Indian number or no number is displayed on your phone, please inform Department of Telecommunications on toll-free number 1800110420/1963”, the message says.

Police and other authorities are also warning the phone users against cheating in the name of friendship, lovely chats, marriage promise, easy loans, employment, etc.

Beware of Lovely Friends

Fraudsters are sending SMS on the mobile in different ways to lure innocent people and deprive them of their hard-earned money.  It is a matter of irony that even highly educated people are becoming victims of unscrupulous elements and losing their money.  ‘My lovely heart is looking for a true friend.  Please call me on 54000318’, says a message, while another says: ’You are the only one with whom I love talking.  Pl case me on 54000318 now. @Rs.3/minute’.   The same number sends another message saying ‘Let’s go on a date.  I am waiting for you. Pl call 54000318’.  ‘Pure your love for her.  Call her on 54000318’, says another message.   Yet another type of message says: ’Missed your Call Dear. Pl call back at 597977019’.

There are many other types of messages luring the innocent.  Beware of fraudsters.   Reports in the media show that almost every day, some people are becoming victims of these cheats.
