The negligent and indifferent attitude of the people in observing the guidelines was the cause for the outbreak of the Covid-19 second wave. Now, while the second wave is decreasing day by day, the threat of the third wave and new variants should not be taken lightly.
People should take all precautions like wearing masks, maintaining social justice, and avoiding crowded places to prevent the third wave of the corona, delta, and other variants. This is the warning being sounded by Doctors of late.
When Covid-19 was on the wane, from October last year, people started ignoring the preventive guidelines and this was the reason for the outbreak of the Second-wave which created havoc in different countries including India, resulting in the rapid spread of the pandemic and the resultant large scale deaths for over six months. This situation should not recur, doctors say, adding that strict observance of the guidelines is the only remedy now to check the pandemic and save lives.
Pointing out that the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) has already issued the guidelines to be followed strictly, Doctors say that it is in the hands of the people to observe the same and stay safe.
Among other things, the ICMR has advised the people to wear masks, maintain social distance, avoid crowded places, avoid outside food for one year, not to undertake travels and pilgrimage trips, be very careful while in barbershops, beauty parlors, etc.
