Abu Dhabi: The media revealed that an Indian expat won a whopping prize of 12 million dirhams ($3,267,102) in the Big Ticket pool held in Abu Dhabi.
Dubai-situated George Jacobs, a 51-year-old, medical equipment salesman said the awards have come as an enormous blessing as he was experiencing some financial troubles, the Khaleej Times said.
He had bought ticket no. on November 30 and has been purchasing the Big Ticket online for as long as two years.
The organizers said in a Facebook post: Congratulations to George Jacob, from India, with winning ticket no. 069402. He won AED (United Arab Emirates Dirham) 12 Million in The Dream 12 Million series 222.
Jacobs had been driving with his family and pulled over to the side of the road to hear the news when organizer Richard called the winner. The news has changed his life permanently.
He said: “When Richard phoned me to say I had won, I was driving. I had to pull over to the side of the road to listen to the news carefully. It is the best bit of news I have gotten in a long time.”
Jacobs as of late began a business in Dubai selling medical equipment. He stated: “It is a small shop. So yes, this big win is a happy welcome for me. Times are difficult right now so the money means a ton to me.”
Jacobs’ daughter is 24 years of old and keeping in mind that his son is studying in Grade 12 at Indian High School Dubai, he said: “I will save money for my children’s future from this win.”
One raffle ticket costs 500 dirhams, however for 1,000 dirhams, one can buy three tickets in a buy two-get without one offer.
Tickets can be purchased from the official site www.bigticket.ae or through Big Ticket stores at the Abu Dhabi International Airport arrivals corridor counter and Al Ain International Airport.
