BJP Loses Sitting Lingojiguda Division

The opposition BJP has lost its sitting Lingojiguda division in GHMC limits today. The rival Congress party candidate from the division Darpally Rajasekhara Reddy defeated the BJP candidate from the division Mandugula Akhil Pawan Goud.

The by-elections to the division were necessitated due to the sitting corporator of the BJP Akula Ramesh Reddy. The saffron party has requested the ruling TRS party to not field its candidate from the seat and extend support for the victory of the family member of the deceased corporator.

Responding positively to the request, the ruling party has stayed away from the contest. Apart from the Congress and BJP candidates, independent candidates like Chalika Chandrasekhar, Jalla Nagarjuna, and Shaik Parvez also contested from the seat.
However the Congress party candidate rajasekhara reddy won from the seat with a high majority. The victory of the party in the by-elections has increased its tally to three corporators in GHMC limits.
