BJP Promises “Sonar Bangla” In West Bengal Elections Manifesto

With the elections right around the corner, the Bharatiya Janata Party recently released its manifesto for the West Bengal elections. Amongst the many promises, the manifesto focuses on the clear implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act within the first cabinet meeting.

Amit Shah Released “Sonar Bangla Sonkolpo Potro”

The Union Home Minister of India, Amit Shah released the Sonar Bangla Sonkolpo Potro slogan at the EZCC in Salt Lake. He said that the BJP will ensure that the Ayushman Bharat healthcare scheme and the PM Kisan programme is implemented in the state.

He further assured that they would provide amounts from Rs 18,000 to 75 lakh farmers under the PM kisan and promised an amount Rs 10000 per year. While talking about the manifesto, they also announced Rs 5000 crores as intervention fund to maintain the economic security of the farmers. They have also ensured accidental insurance of Rs 3 lakh for small farmers and fishermen.

In the manifestor, the BJP assured and said that the Sonar Bangla fund will be worth Rs 11,000 crores which will promote art, literature and many other sectors in the same line.
The party will also be going forward with the Satyajit Ray Award for the Academy Award and will take the Kolkata International Film Festival at higher stakes. The manifesto also included a 33 percent reservation for women in the state government jobs and “strictest border security”.

Amit Shah further said that when BJP comes in power in West Bengal people would not have to approach the court for Durga Puja and will not also be put through baton-charge by the police for Saraswati Puja.

At the same time, the party will also clear the implementation of the CAA in the state. This bill has faced strong opposition from the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee who protested on the streets against the law. Further clarifying on the same, he said that the refugee families who live in the State for over 70 years, will be granted citizenship.

BJP Promises To Make Kolkata Into An International City

In the poll manifesto, the party promised a Rs 20,000 crores fund for the Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar for the development of schools, and other universities to be made with par at IITs and the IIMs.

“We will bring back the Bengal that made the entire nation proud,” Mr Shah said while he spoke about making Kolkata an International City.
