BJP trying to spread “anti-Muslim propaganda” in south: Telangana PFI president

As a result of the arrest of four members of the Popular Front of India (PFI) under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), Abdul Rafeeq Rashadi, Telangana’s PFI president, said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was spreading “anti-Muslim propaganda” throughout the south.

“Is teaching martial arts a crime? Abdul Khader has been teaching Karate for 30 years, and he taught nothing objectionable,” said Abdul Rafeeq Rashadi, state president of PFI.

PFI members were arrested at Nizamabad town Police Station in Telangana on July 4 this year. Investigators from the state police identified four suspects: Abdul Kader, Sheikh Sahadulla, Mohammed Imran, and Abdul Mobin. Telangana Police arrested them. On August 26, the NIA re-registered the case.

According to Abdul Rafeeq, Abdul Khader had no connection to PFI, and the documents found with him were unrelated to it. Only Saadullah is a member of the organization among the arrested. The documents discovered in Khader’s house are completely fabricated, he said.

PFI leader said NIA raids were conducted late at night. He added that the residence of state secretary Irfan was raided late at night, and it was a frightening experience for him, his wife, and their children.

“Is this the right way to proceed? These raids were conducted without notice. Members of the PFI would have peacefully cooperated if they had,” he said.

On September 18, the agency detained four people from PFI from Telangana. In connection with a case filed on 26 August, the agency conducted raids at 38 locations in Telangana and AP.

Karate master Abdul Khader of Nizamabad and other PFI activists were initially booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

The NIA sent notices to several PFI persons asking them to appear before the agency on Monday and take part in the investigation. Reports indicate that those issued notices arrived at the NIA office and appeared before the case’s investigation officials.

As part of the investigation, the NIA team detained four persons from PFI for further investigation outside. In this case, the agency expects to make a few arrests.

Nizamabad VI Town police arrested four people, including Abdul Khader the Karate master, on 5 July. They are all in jail now, and NIA sources say they have been questioned about the case.
