In an effort to promote green and sustainable modes of transportation, Hyderabad Metro Rail has implemented an end-to-end digital payment enabled metro ticket booking through WhatsApp e-ticketing facility.
According to the L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Limited (L&TMRHL), this is the first time a metro rail in the country has launched WhatsApp ticketing. For the technology integration, the Hyderabad Metro Rail has launched the initiative in collaboration with Billeasy and AFC partner, ShellinfoGlobalsg, Singapore.
The brand-new service gives everyday Hyderabad commuters the option to travel on Hyderabad Metro Rail seamlessly. Commuters can now purchase an e-Ticket on their own WhatsApp number, which they can show at the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) gates to continue their journey.
This service is in addition to TSavaari and other third-party payment apps for digital ticket booking.
Speaking on this news, KVB Reddy, MD and CEO of L&TMRHL, stated, “Hyderabad Metro Rail believes in the power of digitalization. In line with the Digital India mission, we are pleased to introduce India’s first Metro WhatsApp e-Ticketing service, complete with a fully digital payment gateway, to enhance our passenger experience and service excellence.”
Billeasy’s Founder and MD, Akash Dillip Patil, stated that his team is committed to delivering a more convenient and efficient digital experience while also incorporating protocols for a connected future.

Ticket booking process
- Start a WhatsApp chat by sending a ‘Hi’ message to Hyderabad Metro Rail Phone No. 918341146468 or scan the QR code available at metro stations to book a ticket.
- Obtain an OTP as well as an e-Ticket booking URL (valid for 5mins)
- To have a contactless digital experience, open the E-ticket gateway webpage by clicking the eTicket booking URL.
- Select the Journey Route and Journey Type options before making your payment (Gpay, PhonePe, Paytm & Rupay debit card, etc.)
- Click the metro E-ticket URL to download the QR E-ticket after receiving it on your registered WhatsApp number (valid for one business day).
- Proceed after flashing the QR E-ticket at the AFC gate.
