“Bring Narendra Modi to Hyderabad”- Owaisi challenges BJP

Reacting to the BJP’s sudden deep interest in the Hyderabad municipal elections, AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi dared the centre’s ruling party today to bring in Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the city for campaigning and see for themselves how many seats the party wins later.

With the GHMC polls round the corner, the party’s cheif representing the Muslim majority of Hyderabad openly challenged BJP to get Mr. Modi to deliver speeches in the old city.

ANI reported Mr. Owaisi telling BJP, “You bring Narendra Modi to the old city and campaign here. We will see what happens. Organise his meeting here and we will see how many seats you will win here.”

The dare from the chief of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) comes after BJP has geared up like never before to campaign and hoist its party flag in the GHMC elections slated to be held on December 1st.

BJP had long started mapping strategies and policies for winning the South city’s polls for its Mayor. However, opposition claims that the party is resorting to false accusations on the ruling party of the state and other competitors for achieving victory.

While alleging that the BJP aims to “destroy Hyderabad”, Mr. Owaisi said that the party also seeks to “bring down the brand name of the city”. He added, “These are municipal elections, they will not talk about development… Hyderabad has become a developed city, many MNCs have been set up here, but BJP wants to destroy it.”

The politician who has also been invited at several international conferences for representing India, was responding to allegations come from top BJP leaders as they battle with all their might, even if it means claiming about the presence of “infiltrators”.

Recently, Bandi Sanjay, Telangana’s party president and Tejaswi Surya, MP from Southern Bengaluru alleged that the parties of the city have encouraged the settlement of Rohingyas and Pakistanis in Hyderabad.

On Saturday, Mr. Sanjay threatened that if BJP wins, they will conduct a “surgical strike to flush out Rohingya and Pakistanis” from the vicinities of the city. A few days prior to this, Mr. Surya had called Mr. Owaisi as another version of “Mohammed Ali Jinnah”, while also accusing AIMIM of shielding Rohingyas in the old city.

Mr. Owaisi reacted to the heavy allegation by terming Narendra Modi and Amit Shah the agents who protected the infiltrators in Hyderabad.

“It is their (PM Modi’s and Mr Shah’s) failure that they were sleeping and Pakistanis have entered here, I have never seen them here. They want to build a wall of hatred between Hindus and Muslims,” Mr Owaisi said.

TRS and Congress too have constantly spoken against the usage of the term “surgical strike” during rallies and campaigns.

Speaking about the BJP leaders’ choice of words, KTR said that the state chief of the party was embarrassing BJP by making far stretched allegations and questioning absurd things to other leaders.

NDTV reported KTR saying, “Have they infiltrated from right under the nose of the Union Home Minister and Defence Minister? Mr Amit Shah would need to.answer why they have not acted on this?”
