Burning garbage gone haywire at Jalpally Lake, Irked residents

Leave alone encroachments, the Jalpally Lake is not even safe from regular dumping and burning of garbage filled with foam and other inflammable stuff as industries located nearby areas are keep on disposing off their industrial material on the banks of the water body resulting into choking the FTL area.

While unprecedented level of encroachments are chocking Jalpally Lake, the wayward dumping and burning of garbage especially the has gone haywire on the embanking area that keep on polluting the already exploited water body.

Scenes like flames frothing out from heaps of garbage filled with inflammable stuff every few meters embanking the Lake area are very common that makes the area completely unhygienic while effluents marking into water body from different location especially from nearby industries polluting the water grievously.

Starting from Mailardevpally area under Rajendranagar, this lake shares the boundaries with Bandlaguda in Chandrayangutta before completing a circle at Jalpally Village under Saroor Nagar Mandal. No protection gears like fencing around the lake, makes it one among the most vulnerable water bodies that left to the tender mercies of encroachers and polluting industries standing close to water body.

The Jalpally Lake is a notified water body that spreads over an area of 274.75 acres with a water spread area of 167.480 acres. Notified by HMDA with an ID No.3602, this Lake is mainly located in Jalpally Village under Saroornagar Mandal.

With no proper safety gears like fencing to fend off encroachments, this Lake comes under Maheshwaram constituency represented by Minister for Education Sabita Indra Reddy who is also a member of recently formed cabinet sub-committee to oversee issues pertaining to unauthorised layouts, regularization of plots and house sites, gram kantham and other matters.

“Dumping and burning garbage on the Lake shore became common while the complaints in this regard were also fails to yield any result. The matter was brought to the notice of Municipal Chairman and Commissioner Jalpally several times but to no avail as the murky trend became a fashion now,” Bemoaned Budumala Yadagiri, Councillor Ward No. 16 of  Jalpally Municipality.
