Central Team Apprised by CS on Flood Loss

Hyderabad: Chief Secretary of Telangana, Somesh Kumar today apprised the central team that the state government has taken all steps to limit the loss of lives and property emerging out of the recent flood in the state.

The central Team established by the Government of India to evaluate the damage brought about by flood in Telangana State.

The five individuals group containing Praveen Vashista, Joint Secretary, R.B Kaul, Consultant, Ministry of Finance, K.Manoharan, Director, Department of Agriculture, S.K.Kushwaha, S.E., Transport and Highways, M. Raghuram, S.E., Ministry of Water Resources.

 

The five-member inter-ministerial group drove by Shri Praveen Vasishta, Joint Secretary, Government of India was given a PowerPoint introduction and informed about the degree of harm caused because of the floods in the state.  They also discussed the flood situation and the relief works in the state

A photo exhibit was directed to portray the harms brought about by the floods.

The Committee will visit the flood-impacted regions to survey the degree of damage to properties and crops during recent hefty rains and floods.

Authorities of Irrigation, Municipal Administration, GHMC, R&B, Water Board, Agriculture, Energy, and Panchayat Raj communicated with the central group and gave an outline of the loss acquired in the state. Authorities educated that there was an abundance of rainfall during the past ten days which has brought about flooding.

In spite of the fact that there were downpours in the whole state, over the top damage was done and around Hyderabad and the neighboring regions adjoining the city. Breaches to three significant tanks combined with flooding in the Musi river brought about the low-level territories being immersed.

Harm to public infrastructure was tremendous and the state government had just made a preliminary evaluation of the damage. While the loss to crops was assessed at Rs 8633 crores, loss to streets was assessed to be about Rs 222 crores. The loss to GHMC was assessed to be about Rs 567 crores.

The state government has delivered Rs 550 crores for quick flood relief. Food parcels were provided to over two lakh individuals. One kilogram of bleaching powder and three lakh chlorine tablets were provided to the impacted individuals. Fifteen substations that were immersed were brought into service within 48 hours.

Head Secretary Municipal Administration Arvind Kumar, Principal Secretary, Principal Secretary, Irrigation Rajat Kumar, Principal Secretary R&B Sunil Sharma, Secretary Agriculture Janardhan Reddy, Secretary Panchayat Raj Sandeep Kumar Sulthania, Secretary Disaster Management Rahul Bojja, GHMC Commissioner Lokesh Kumar, Water Board MD Dana Kishore, TSSPDCL CMD Raghuma Reddy, and different authorities partook in the meeting.
