Cherlapalli Railway Terminal: Hyderabad’s Stunning New Selfie Spot and Travel Hub

The newly inaugurated Cherlapalli railway terminal, unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last week, has quickly become the talk of the town. Known for its state-of-the-art infrastructure, the station boasts a vast lobby adorned with vibrant murals, landscaped gardens, fountains, and a striking artefact at its entrance, making it an instant hit among residents as a selfie hotspot.

People from surrounding colonies have been flocking to the station with friends and families, exploring its modern design and enjoying its picturesque ambiance. Despite only a handful of train services currently operational and complaints from some passengers about the station’s distance from central Hyderabad, the terminal has been drawing large crowds of curious visitors.

“We heard a lot about this station,” said Rathan Babu, a resident of Kushaiguda, who arrived with 30 friends and family members. “After it was inaugurated, we all planned a visit since it’s closer than other tourist spots. The station is beautiful.”

Ramya and Pushpa, who traveled from Ashoknagar near Mallapur, were equally thrilled. “We are excited to be here. We took loads of photographs. It was a pleasant evening trip. This station adds beauty to this area,” they shared.

For those living on the outskirts of the city, such as Chengicherla, the terminal has become a welcome addition to an otherwise industrial landscape. “Apart from industries and real estate plots, there are hardly any good places here,” said Renuka Bhavani. “This railway station is close by, and we came to explore it after the inauguration. It’s quite beautiful and will serve us better in the future.”

Residents like Saniya Khan of Bharatnagar, Cherlapalli, see potential in the terminal improving connectivity. “I am originally from Uttar Pradesh. If trains to UP operate from here, it will be very convenient for us,” said Saniya, who has lived in the city for two decades.

While its full potential as a transport hub is yet to be realized, the Cherlapalli railway terminal is already carving a niche as a new landmark, drawing admiration for its architectural elegance and providing a much-needed recreational spot for residents of Hyderabad’s outskirts.
