Chhattisgarh To Provide Free Rice Till November Under State Food Security Act

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel recently announced the distribution of rice for free from July to November to all the BPL ration cardholders in the state.

Ration Card Holders To Receive Benefits From State Food Security Act

As per the latest reports, the chief minister also announced that the ration card holders will be provided additional quantity of rice under State Food Security Act which is equivalent to the PM Poor Welfare Scheme. This announcement of Chief Minister would benefit nearly 2,51,46,424 beneficiaries of 67,90,987 ration cards.

However, this isn’t the first time when Chhattisgarh government has announced a scheme like this. Earlier, the Chhattisgarh Government had distributed rice free of cost to the poor and needy families under PDS in the months of May and June as well.

As per the announcement of Chief Minister Baghel, BPL families will now be provided rice free of cost from the month of July to the month of November this year.
This decision would greatly benefit ration card holders of ‘antyoday’, ‘priority’, ‘annapoorna’, ‘destitute’, ‘disabled’ categories.

28 Districts Report Less Than 100 Cases in Chhattisgarh

The above news comes after 28 districts in Chhattisgarh reported less than one hundred cases in one day. After a gap of 76 days, Chhattisgarh reported 999 cases on Sunday. Highest cases of 81 was reported from Sarguja district. Currently, the state’s positivity rate has dropped to 2.6 percent. At the same time, over 23.09 lakh Covid 19 suspects received Covid 19 medicines at their doorstep, free of cost.

Meanwhile, to help with the Covid 19 situation, Axis bank came forward to donate funds with the state government. Health officials said that the bank will provide medical equipment and materials costing Rs 1.5 crores for the treatment of the Covid 19 patients.
