Hyderabad: Famous human rights activist and IIT guru Chukka Ramaiah demanded the Maharashtra government to take steps for the immediate release of the jailed writer Varavara Rao from jail by keeping in view of his serious illness.
Speaking to media persons at Torrur, he said that the Right to life was the basic right of every individual in any democracy.
He urged the authorities to shift Rao to a Hyderabad based hospital for treatment and added that it was not good for the police to mete our mental torture to the agitations.
He advised the governments to not Create a situation to force Rao to die in jail.
