CJ orders State to cleanse River Musi at once

HyderabadThe Chief Justice of High Court & Executive Chairman, Telangana State Legal Services Authority, convened a meeting on March 16 and discussed the issues of Lakes and Musi River Protection and suggested formation of an action plan to prevent pollution.

The Chief Secretary, in a follow-up meeting held on March 30 had instructed the officials concerned to prepare an Action Plan as per the discussions held on March 16 to improve the Musi River bed in the stretch between Puranapool to Imliban immediately.

Today, MA&UD Principal Secretary Arvind Kumar, IAS, inspected the stretch between Puranapool to Imliban and observed that there were huge heaps of garbage and dumping of debris into the Musi River bed from the abutting roads. The sewerage system with I&D structures, Trunk Sewers, the exiting Rubber Dam, existing Landscapes & Walkways were inspected by him.

The Principal Secretary asked the officials concerned to take up garbage removal immediately. H also instructed them to take up the cleansing of the river course, existing Walkways, Lighting, illumination to the Muslim Jung Pool. He also asked the officials to clear the debris dumped near the Metro Station to make the River Course for free flow and to take up the work immediately.

The Principal Secretary also instructed the MD, MRDCL to get the disused Bridge examined by a consultant to use it for vegetable vendors without disturbing vehicular traffic. The MD, MRDCL was requested to begin the works immediately by coordinating with the Officials of GHMC, HMWS&SB and other stakeholder Departments. K. Ashok Reddy, MD, MRDCL, BLN Reddy, CE, MRDCL, Naganna, ACP Traffic, Srinivas Reddy, Zonal Commissioner, Prasanna, CGM, HMWS&SB and other officials from GHMC, TSPCB, Police Department, MRDCL, HMDA attended the inspection from 7.30  am to 9.30 am along with Principal Secretary.
