Clear Telangana Share in Krishna River: Rajat to Centre

Irrigation Special Chief Secretary of Telangana today urged the centre to give clarity on the state share of water in the Krishna River.

He held a meeting with officials concerned and discussed the future plan of action to get state water share.  Until the Centre gives clarity half of 811 TMC water should be given to Telangana State, he said.

The meeting was attended by engineers, legal experts and irrigation projects. Rajat Kumar said that the state government is ready to submit detailed project reports to the Union Jal Shakti Minister on the new projects in the state.

He claimed that Dindi, Palamur– Ranga Reddy and Devadula and other projects are old and Krishna River. the state is not violating norms. The irrigation top official instructed them to take up the case at any level to get a rightful share of water from the Krishna River.

Rajat Kumar said that he is going through the gazette notification on Krishna and Godavari Boards issued by the Centre.  The government is looking into related issues like administrative, technical and legal issues. The government is getting ready to fight at any level for its share and legal issues are looked into.

Rajat Kumar instructed the Officers to prepare reports and guidelines and make efforts to get our water despite AP creating problems. The centre brought the rivers and projects under the two river boards under its purview through the new notification.

Both the states are opposing the centre for partisan attitude on the water, boards and distribution. While AP Government already moved Supremo Court on the issue, Telangana Government is also doing the same for water.

The officials present expressed their views on the gazette notification released by the centre in this regard.
