CM KCR visits Delhi for a 3-day trip

On Monday, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao took a special flight from Begumpet airport to Delhi for a three-day visit, accompanied by a few ministers, Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) MPs, and senior leaders. The purpose of the Chief Minister’s visit is unclear.

His visit comes at a significant time when Parliament is in session for the Monsoon Session. According to party sources, the Chief Minister will meet with new President Droupadi Murmu. Because Chandrashekar Rao was unable to attend Murmu’s swearing-in ceremony in Delhi on Monday, he wanted to pay Murmu a courtesy visit to express his congratulations on taking charge as President.

The Chief Minister is also expected to meet with leaders of a few regional parties and MPs, requesting that they speak out in the ongoing session against the BJP-led NDA government’s ‘undemocratic, anti-people, anti-poor, and anti-farmer policies at the Centre.

He is expected to meet with farmers union leaders and others as part of his renewed efforts to forge a national anti-BJP front for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. It may be recalled that on July 16, a day before the Parliament session, Chandrashekar Rao told TRS MPs in Pragathi Bhavan that if necessary, he would travel to Delhi to meet with Opposition parties and MPs in the fight against the BJP government.

He urged MPs to use Parliament as a platform to oppose the BJP government.

TRS MPs and MPs from opposition parties have been stalling proceedings in both Houses since July 17 to protest the rising prices of essential commodities and the BJP government’s imposition of GST on milk and food items.

According to sources, the Chief Minister was accompanied to Delhi by Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, MPs Joginipally Santosh Kumar, G. Ranjit Reddy, LB Nagar MLA D. Sudheer Reddy, and Karimnagar former mayor Ravinder Singh.
