Hyderabad: Election officials have taken action on 3,703 C-Vigil complaints of model code of conduct violations after finding them to be genuine, out of a total 5,291 complaints received covering 16 types of violations so far, disclosed the Chief Electoral Officer of the State, Dr Rajat Kumar.
A major chunk of 2,210 complaints out of them related to pasting / displaying of posters or banners without permission. Of them, 1,829 were found to be correct and action was taken on them, while 284 others were dropped and 95 kept pending at different levels, including that of the Returning Officer, he said here on Monday. Cases concerning property defacement numbered 141 and out of them, 103 were redressed, 33 were dropped and three pending. Ninety-six complaints were received alleging transportation of public for rallies and action was taken on 65 of them, 30 were dropped and one pending.
The CEO said, a total of 188 complaints in all the categories of MCC violations were pending action. The cases, which were dropped in all these categories, numbered 1,395. In all, 284 out of these related to displaying of posters/banners without permission. Out of 67 complaints of display of firearms and intimidation lodged, 19 were dropped, while 43 were found to be correct and action taken and five kept pending. Similarly, 111 complaints were received alleging that gifts and coupons were distributed and out of them 67 were dropped, while 44 were found to be correct and attended, and no complaint was pending in this category.
As many as 112 complaints were received about liquor distribution, and 54 of them attended, 57 dropped, and one was pending. Regarding cash distribution, 182 complaints were received, 137 were dropped and action was taken regarding 41 and four pending. Forty-three complaints were received against religious or communal speeches/messages, and 22 of them found to be genuine and no complaint was kept pending in this category.
The other violations are: Complaints for campaigning during the period from 10 pm to 6 am– 41; 26 attended; 13 dropped and two pending. Paid news– 116, action taken 52, dropped 56 and 8 pending.(NSS)
