Complete One-Week Ban in Amalapuram: Section 144 Imposed

All sorts of rallies, protests and exhibitions are restricted in Amalapuram in the East Godavari region after the Deputy Collector forced Section 144 of the CrPC for seven days on Friday.

Eluruarea Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police K.V. Mohan Rao told IANS that “Section 144 of the CrPc and Section 30 of the Police Act are in force for one week in Amalapuram. No dharnas, rallies or any type of agitational programmes will be allowed,”

Rao said that BJP and its associated frameworks have slipped on Amalapuram with no authorization from the police or some other authority as a feature of their ‘ChaloAmalapuram’ call to challenge the ongoing chariot blast at the sanctuary of Antarvedi Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy.

He also mentioned “They tried to organise some rallies and dharnas, mobilising hundreds of people,”

Since the BJP and its partners didn’t have consent to dissent and considering the furious COVID pandemic circumstance, the police mentioned them to present a reminder to the income divisional official (RDO) or the joint authority.

“We requested 4-5 people to submit a memorandum to the respective RDO or joint collector but they refused and came in large numbers,” was told by the DIG

Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has given over the chariot case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as the nearby police couldn’t split it. The state government has additionally authorized almost Rs 1 crore to construct another chariot.
