Congress to engage in a strong battle against AIMIM

The Congress party is going to engage in a strong battle against the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM).

The decision was made during TPCC Minorities Department Executive Committee’s meeting at Gandhi Bhavan. The AICC Minorities Department Incharge, Farhan Azmi, addressed the meeting and made it clear that the leadership of the TPCC Minorities Department will not change and the present body will continue till the next elections.

He requested Shaik Abdullah Sohail, Chairman of the TPCC Minorities Department, to finalize the appointment of district-level and other bodies within the Minorities Department. According to Abdullah Sohail, there were detailed discussions on four major issues, including membership drives and future agitations.

According to him, the Congress membership drive in Telangana State has been well received, especially among minorities. In the twin cities’ Lok Sabha constituencies, a record number of people have joined the Congress party. He said that the party had decided to engage in a strong battle against the AIMIM in the Old City.

“AIMIM leadership has been causing damage to the Congress party and other secular forces across India. There is no doubt that AIMIM acts as the B-Team of BJP and other Sangh Parivar parties. This was evident in the recently concluded Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. Despite the fact that AIMIM is a political party free to contest elections from anywhere in the country, its leadership is only contesting polls in selected constituencies to benefit the BJP. Now, we are taking on the MIM in its stronghold”, he added.

Abdullah Sohail announced that a Padayatra for issues relevant to minorities will be held from Charminar to Gandhi Bhavan in May (after Eid-ul-Fitr). There will also be a series of public meetings across all districts of Telangana between June and July 2022, he said.

Abdullah Sohail also said the minorities in Telangana remained neglected under the TRS regime. As part of the campaign, they will hold public meetings in all Assembly constituencies of Hyderabad. They have invited AICC General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi to one of the meetings that will be held in the Old City.
