A video circulating on social media has sparked controversy in Bhopal after it showed Sub-Inspector Dinesh Sharma allegedly making discriminatory remarks against Muslim gym trainers and trainees. The incident took place during a police response to a complaint involving members of the Bajrang Dal at a gym in the Ayodhya Nagar area.
In the video, Sub-Inspector Sharma can be clearly heard instructing the gym owner: “No Muslim will come here to give or take training. I have made it clear to you.” The footage is believed to have been recorded a few days ago when Bajrang Dal members objected to the presence of Muslim trainers at the facility and summoned police to intervene.
The officer’s remarks have triggered widespread criticism online, with concerns raised over religious discrimination and abuse of authority. In response to the backlash, senior police officials have acknowledged the incident and confirmed that an internal inquiry has been initiated against Sub-Inspector Sharma.

Amid the controversy, Bhopal MP and senior BJP leader Alok Sharma expressed support for the sub-inspector’s statements. Speaking to the media, he said, “There are legitimate concerns regarding Muslim trainers. A list of gym trainers has been compiled, and it will be submitted to the police for verification. Only female trainers should be assigned to women clients.” He further added, “This is a government led by Mohan Yadav, and we will not tolerate Love Jihad or Land Jihad in Madhya Pradesh.”
These statements come on the heels of a recent high-profile case involving Mohsin Khan, a rifle shooting instructor from Indore, who was arrested for allegedly molesting a female trainee during a session. Bajrang Dal activists have accused Khan of targeting Hindu girls under the guise of professional training. They claim data recovered from his phone suggested he had exploited over 150 women.
Activist groups have linked this case to a broader alleged pattern of sexual exploitation across Madhya Pradesh, particularly targeting Hindu women. Reports of similar incidents have emerged from both Bhopal and smaller towns in the state, prompting heightened communal tensions and increased scrutiny of mixed-gender and interfaith professional interactions.
While police officials continue their investigation into both the officer’s conduct and the allegations surrounding Mohsin Khan, civil society organizations and legal experts have raised concerns about the growing communalization of public institutions and professional spaces.
