Controversy Over Shiv Temple Claim at Ajmer Dargah, Court to Hear Case on December 20

There are claims being made about the existence of a Shiv temple at the Dargah in Ajmer, Rajasthan. Following this, a Hindu group approached the court, and the court has issued notices to the concerned parties.

The next hearing for this case will take place on December 20. In response, members of the Muslim community have started commenting on the matter. Syed Naseeruddin Chishti, the President of the All India Sufi Sajjadanashin Council and a descendant of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, stated that the government should intervene in this issue.

Syed Naseeruddin Chishti said that the court has issued notices to the concerned parties in this case. These parties include the Dargah Committee, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), and the Ministry of Minority Affairs.

He further mentioned that this is a matter related to the shrine of their ancestors, and they are closely monitoring the situation and consulting with lawyers. He emphasized that whatever legal steps need to be taken will be taken, and they will present their position with full force.

Syed Naseeruddin Chishti expressed concern over the increasing trend in the country where religious places, like mosques and Dargahs, are being claimed to be temples. He stated that such disputes are not in the interest of the country.

He pointed out that India is on the path to becoming a global power, and the nation cannot remain mired in temple and mosque disputes. “We will leave the temple and mosque conflicts for our future generations,” he added.

He further said that those who take such irresponsible steps and make such statements hurt the faith of millions of people. Regarding the Ajmer Dargah, he clarified that it is not just a place of significance for Muslims but is connected to the faith of Hindus, Sikhs, and Christians around the world as well.

Syed Naseeruddin Chishti highlighted that the history of the Ajmer Dargah spans over 850 years, and the shrine has always been a symbol of love and peace. He stated that such actions and statements, rooted in impure thoughts, hurt the faith of millions and are meant to divide society.

He also condemned the violence in Sambhal and urged the Indian government to intervene in this matter. He called for the introduction of laws or guidelines that would prevent people from making claims about religious sites.

Syed Naseeruddin Chishti also referred to RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, calling him a responsible leader. He recalled that in 2022, Bhagwat had said, “How long will we keep searching for a Shivling in every mosque? What is the need for this? Every mosque should have a Shivling.”
