Covid vaccination drive begins for private hospitals staff in Telangana

Jabs of covid-19 vaccine have started reaching private hospitals as the healthcare workers here began getting inoculated on Monday. The drive commenced following the completion of the vaccine administration for government healthcare staff.

Dr. Pavan Kumar Reddy, Head of the Department of Critical Care at Care Hospitals, Banjara Hills became the first to get the shot administered. The hospital in its press released said that it is aiming at getting 300 of its staff members vaccinated.

Gachibowli’s AIG Hospitals too was seen in the list of health institutions to receive the jab and join the world’s biggest vaccination drive. 200 of its staff and doctors received the vaccine on Monday alone.

Head of the program, Dr. D Nageshwar Reddy, Chairman and Chief of Gastroenterology, AIG Hospitals, was the first to get the dose. He expressed his gratitude to the authorities for helping him and others at the hospital avail the vaccine that is of utmost crucial to fight the deadly virus.

“I heartily congratulate and thank the entire Scientific Community, our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, Vaccine manufacturers, State Health Officials, and thousands of nursing and paramedical staff across India to make this audacious vaccination drive possible,” the doctor said.

The DMHO of Ranga Reddy district, Dr. Swaraja Lakshmi, inaugurated the vaccination drive at the AIG Hospitals. According to a press release, the hospital will be joining the list of the largest drives in the State as it will be administering the vaccine to more than 2,600 doctors and members within the next few days.

Mop-up vaccination session for those government healthcare workers who could not get the shot earlier is also progressing alongside.

Smaller private healthcare centers, including clinics and nursing homes, which have fewer than 50 staff will receive the vaccine at the closes government healthcare facility. Larger ones will witness more than one session of vaccination at their center itself as each session aims to administer to at least 100 people.

For ensuring the information reaches the workers regarding the schedule and available infrastructure, a nodal officer has been appointed by private hospitals.

The doctors and staff will be getting vaccinated on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Management of these private hospitals and healthcare establishments have conveyed that the arrangements for the drive are in place. They said, “All our employees who have been registered in the Co-WIN software will get vaccinated in the next couple of days. Everybody is looking forward to it.”
