CS for Urban Forestry, Parks by Nov

Hyderabad: Chief Secretary SK Joshi today directed the officials of various departments to take up on war-footing the works pertaining to urban forestry by launching parks in the towns and urban areas by November next. Though the works are delayed due to continuous elections in the state now the focus on growing unrban forestry by starting number of parks with all facilities he said. At a review meeting in Secretariat here Joshi emphasised on the need for growing greenery in towns and ensure conducive atmosphere. Make use of technology and transfer the information and provide all facilities for people in the urban forests while protecting the natural forests in the state he said. All the towns should get parks with all facilities he said and asked for active coordination among the departments.

Of 129 identified forest  areas for development, the officials 59 parks developed so far and 70 areas will be developed as forest zones. Of 59 parks, 21 completed and others are on in different stages. The meeting approved the parks of tourism wing to be developed by HMDA and others for rapid development. (NSS)
