Delhi airport receives threat calls against 2 scheduled London flights

Amidst a concerning news in the country, the Indira Gandhi International Airport of Delhi has received calls, threatening the administration to stop the Air India flights to London tomorrow.

The flights are scheduled to fly to their destination in Britain on November 5th.

Speaking about the threat calls made to many people, a senior inspector of the Delhi Police has said the Khalistani group, Sikhs for Justice is behind the act, founded by Gurupatvant Singh Pannu.

The organization has its base in the US and was banned in 2019 under the Unlawful Activities Prevention (UAP) Act in India.

However, the Pro-Khalistan’s stance has led to a tighter guard of security around the airport.

News agencies quoted Rajiv Rajan, the Delhi police officer as saying, “We have received a threat regarding two Air India flights, scheduled on November 5.”

Adding the measures taken to enhance the safety of the flights and it’s passengers, he said, “We have increased the security level. An airport is a sensitive place by default. We are coordinating this matter.”

The DCP for Airport disclosed the identity of the man who captained the calls and said, “Terrorist Gurupatvant Singh Pannu, who is associated with the Khalistan Commando Force, has made threat calls to several people and said that on November 5, the group won’t let two Air India planes to land in London.”

The calls have alerted the airport officials and the Delhi police as they are now prepared for any events related to the threats. The CISF is also in place to further safeguard the airport premises.

These calls threatening the illegal cessation of the two flights fall in line with the 36th anniversary of the anti-Sikh protests which took place in the year 1984 in India’s capital, New Delhi.

Whether this is a coincidence or a planned motive, hasn’t been known yet.
