Delhi Congress, Women Congress, Youth Congress Protest in Support of Bharat Bandh

New Delhi: A large number of Delhi Congress, activists of the women’s wing of the Congress and Indian Youth Congress on Tuesday arranged a protest and stopped traffic close to the Income Tax Office (ITO) intersection in the national capital in support of the ‘Bharat Bandh’ called by farmers against the three agricultural laws passed by the Parliament.

The first to hit the road were workers of the Delhi Congress under the leadership of party unit chief Chaudhary Anil Kumar, who halted traffic on Vikas Marg.

Congress workers with banners and placards in their hands raised slogans against the Central government demanding the withdrawal of the three agricultural laws.

They set up banners on the ITO flyover that read ‘in support of farmers call of Bharat Bandh’.

Congress workers furthermore sat on the street disrupting traffic on the Vikas Marg which connects east Delhi with central Delhi.

After the disruption in traffic, Delhi Police personnel detained Congress workers from the location and took them to the IP Extension police headquarters.

Before long workers of the Youth Congress and the women’s ‘ wing of the party likewise gathered close to ITO chowk and raised slogans against the government over the three agricultural laws.

Even Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers furthermore arranged a protest at the ITO traffic crossing and raised slogans against the Central government and the Delhi Police department.

Farmers from Haryana, Punjab and Western Uttar Pradesh have given a call for the Bharat Bandh demanding the withdrawal of the three Farm Laws passed by Parliament. The fifth round of discussions between farmer leaders and government representatives on Saturday stayed uncertain.

Another round of discussions with farmers is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.

With the nationwide bandh, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Monday gave an advisory to all States and Union Territories that no unfavorable incident should happen during Tuesday’s strike. The advisory requested that they keep up peace and harmony and guarantee that all COVID-19 rules are carefully followed.

This bandh incorporates plans for a chakkajaam, or road blockade, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Supplies of vegetables and milk will furthermore be stopped throughout this period, however, emergency services won’t be impacted, farm leaders, taking the route of peaceful protests.
