Delhi man kills wife after fight, surrenders

New Delhi: A man in Delhi strangled his wife to death after a heated argument between the two, the police said on Monday.

The incident took place in the Dakshinpuri area of South Delhi.

“Today at 12.30 a.m., one Vijay, a resident of Dakshinpuri area came at Ambedkar Nagar police station and said that he had murdered his wife at his home. When the police visited the house of the said person, his wife was lying dead on the bed in the room,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) south Delhi, Atul Kumar Thakur.

The couple allegedly had a fight with each other on Monday after which, he strangulated her, pushing her to death. He later came to the police station to file the report and surrender.

When the police reached the crime spot, they found the dead body lying with the strangulation mark on her neck while inspecting. The corpse has been preserved at the mortuary of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Vijay has been taken into custody, the police said.

A murder case has been registered and the investigation is underway. During the interrogation, the accused husband of the victim, Vijay, revealed that there was a quarrel between him and his wife at night and during the scuffle he strangulated her. Appropriate sections of the ipc are being told to be levied on him.

During the past year, many cases of husbands murdering their wives have been reported. A man in Delhi surrendered in February after murdering his wife in front of their two kids by strangling her. Another man killed his wife over an argument over kids. Reports of men killing their wives with weapons had also surfaced after suspecting them of having extra marital affairs. A 30-year-old man had strangled his four-year-old daughter while she was asleep at their house in Delhi following repeated fights with his wife, whom he suspected of having an affair.
