Delhi man stabbed to death after his birthday party

The national capital, Delhi, witnessed the murder of a 25-year-old man on his birthday after 4 men allegedly stabbed him to death, according to the police.

The incident took place in Mangolapuri area on the outskirts of Delhi after a dispute broke out between the birthday boy and 4 others post the celebration party.

Reports say that the victim, Rinku Sharma, was involved in a heated quarrel on the night of Wednesday with the 4 accused. Following the argument, the 4 reached the deceased’s house and killed him with a knife.

The murder accused, identified as Zahid, Danish, Islam and Mehtab, were taken into custody by the police on Thursday.

The crime was executed after both the parties got into a fight regarding their restaurant business that was forced to be closed following heavy losses. The police said that this story is under verification.

The cops disclosed that the deceased and the 4 accused were in attendance for the birthday party during which the argument took place over their respective eateries located in Rohini, Delhi. Both even went ahead to slap and threaten each other following which they dispersed from the place with other plans in mind.

The issue was not a new one as the parties had riffs regarding the matter earlier too, the police said, while adding that the after the party got over, the accused landed at the victim’s house who was already waiting outside with his elder brother armed with sticks.

Soon, the fight turned ugly and amidst the tussle, the accused stabbed the victim and hurried away from the place, a senior police official said to the media. Though Sharma was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, his body gave in to the injuries and passed away, the cop added.

It has been brought to light during the investigation that both of them had established their own food joint in October, 2020, close to Rohini. The businesses weren’t doing well due to which they had to shut them down. However, the parties accused each other of dismantling their business career and often got into scuffles over this.

“All the four men have been arrested and a case has been registered against them,” Sudhanshu Dhama, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) said.

Some have given a new twist to the incident as Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leaders have alleged that the cause of his murder was because the victim was a part of the organization and collected donations for building Ayodhya’s Ram Temple.

These claims were, however, trashed by the police as the fact has been found to be the enmity over the businesses and losses incurred.

“We urge the administration to arrest the culprits without delay and ensure strictest punishment to them,” said VHP joint general secretary Surendra Jain.
