Diagnostic services unburden people : Harish Rao

Finance Minister T Harish Rao today said that new diagnostic centers launched on Wednesday across the state of Telangana will provide immediate services to people.  With these centers, the poor in the districts can get 57 services free of cost.

He inaugurated a diagnostic center and RTPCR unit at Sangareddy district hospital. On the occasion, the minister for finance said that as per chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s directions the diagnostic centers are set up.

Actually, it costs around Rs 4000 to Rs 5000 per such test in private diagnostic centers, he said. This burden will be avoided through the new diagnostic centers which are fully equipped with the latest medical equipment.

Each diagnostic center costs Rs 2.50 cr with the latest equipment and offers timely services, he said. The minister said that the new diagnostic centers in the districts are useful to the people who can get as many as 57 tests free of cost.

He informed that tests to be conducted for kidney, liver, thyroid, heart problems, and 90 such ailments in this facility.  In Sanga Reddy alone samples of blood to be collected from 25 PHCs and UHCs for tests.

Within 24 hours of time, the patients can get information on their cell phones about the test results giving a big relief. There is no need of going rounds of the test centers again, he said.

Today 19 diagnostic centers began in the districts and other places and 16 more will be started, the minister declared.

The finance minister informed that Rs 550 cr to be spent to set up a new medical college and a nursing college. Harish Rao also announced setting up a 650 bedded hospital with modern facilities by spending Rs 260 cr.

Stating that the people in the district will soon get Radiology services, Harish Rao informed that a new CT Scan facility worth Rs 2.50 cr will be made available in the government hospital.
