Egypt Signs 7 Economic Development Grant Agreements With US

As per the latest update, Egypt has signed seven grant agreements with the United States of America via the US Agency for International Development. The worth 125 million US$ and is a part of the joint economic relations program between the two countries.

The agreements aims to the boost the Egypt’s development efforts in various fields of education, science and technology, health, trade and investment, economic governance and agriculture, Rania al-Mashat, Egyptian Minister of International Cooperation confirmed in a statement.

She further pointed out that the strategic partnership with the US is integrated with the Egypt’s national efforts to achieve economic and social development across the country. She revealed that Egypt’s International Cooperation Ministry and the National Council for Women along with the World Economic forum has launched the “Closing the Gender Gap Acccelterator” intiative. It is said to be the first of its kind in Africa and the Middle East. Its aim is to work towards taking measures to empower women.

She further added that the ministry is seeking to agree on a new partnership with the USAID in the context on achievin the goals of the initiative and eventually bridge the gender gap, improve the work environment for women in the private sector and enhance women’s participation in finances.

The Minister said that the partnership with the USAID will also reflect in motivating the participation of the private sector in Egypt’s development and further increasing its role in other projects by supporting small and medium companies.
