Etala to lay stone for Stent Manufacturing Unit on September 1

Hyderabad: In a major boost to medical devices manufacturing in Telangana State, Health Minister Etala Rajender and State Labour Minister Ch Malla Reddy, along with TSIIC Chairman G Ballamallu, will be laying the foundation stone of Asia’s largest Stent Manufacturing Unit of Sahajanand Medical Technologies on September 1 at the Medical Devices Park in Sultanpur, Sangareddy District.

The factory will be a Rs 250 crore setup spread in 20 acres and is expected to generate 2200 direct and 500 indirect employment opportunities in the State. The unit will have a manufacturing capacity of over 1.25 million stents per annum. Sahajanand Medical Technologies (SMT) is India’s first and largest stent manufacturing company with a market share of over 30%, with presence in more than 800+ Cath labs and hospitals in India.

The company is Gujarat based and is present in 70 countries worldwide. In a recently published scientific paper in the globally acclaimed international journal ‘The Lancet’, SMT has proven that its stents are as good as US made stents in the global market and the company has received a lot of support from hospitals and cardiologist community in India.
