With the aim to curb the spread of Covid 19 and vaccination being rolled out across the world, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) has approved the use of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for children.
Young Teenagers To Get Covid Vaccine Soon
Pfizer-BioNTEch has now officially become the first vaccine to be authorised for adolescents in the 27 member states of the European Union. Marco Cavaleri, EMA’s vaccine strategy manager recently addressed a press conference and said that the regulator had received the data advocating the vaccines for the younger teens.
Cavaleri said that the data has shown that the Covid 19 vaccine is highest effective for the children. He further pointed out that the decision need to be approved by the European Commission and the individual national regulators.

Meanwhile, the regulators in Canada and the United States of American have already approved the same vaccine for teenagers. The recommendations were based on a study conducted over 2,200 children in the US. The study showed that the vaccine is safe and effective for the young teens as well.
The trial for the vaccine showed that the immune response of age group from 12-15 was the same for the age group 16-25. The study showed that the vaccine is 100 percent effective at preventing the pandemic virus.
The most common side effects in children aged 12-15 are similar to those in people of age groups 16 and above. It includes pain, tiredness, headache, muscle and joint pain and fever.
Delhi CM Urges For Vaccines For Children
With hard hitting second wave of Covid 19 and the expected third wave, the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has urged the Central government to procure Pfizer Covid 19 vaccine for the children as well.

This comes after Pfizer and the central government have conducted several rounds of meetings to speed up the approval process. The Pfizer has informed the government that the vaccine has already been cleared to be used for age group 12-15 in both US and Canada.
