the3 social network recently released a statement and said that ever since 2017, people on Facebook have been using physical security keys to log into their accounts. This allows them to protect their information from hackers.

Two-factor authentication is a security feature that ensures that the facebook account is safeguarded every time you login from an unknown device. With the 2FA, you’ll have to know the password or a code to be able to login via any other device.

You shall receive the code either via a text message (SMS) or Authenticator app.

The company said that it’d be much harder for the hackers to be able to make their way via 2FA. This will keep your password from being the last defence against hackers or any other phishing attempts.

Facebook said that they’d encourage users to use physical security keys to increase the security of their accounts. The security keys can either be connected via bluetooth or by plugging into your phone. However, Facebook does not manufacture hardware keys. But the users can also start the 2FA feature by checking the settings option.

Twitter May Follow The Same Path

At the same time, earlier this week, micro-blogging platform Twitter also announced the same method. They said they will be rolling out multiple security keys for each account to better protect their data.

As of now, Twitter may use a security key along with an authenticator app to sign in to their accounts via an unknown device. But they will be working towards making more barriers against hackers.
